Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information illakku ("we", "us") collects at https://www.illakku.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google to create your account.

Content you provide. Posts, polls, comments, likes, profile details (bio, job, location, batch, social links), and any photos you upload.

Usage & device data. Basic technical information such as approximate access times and, if you consent via the cookie banner, aggregate usage analytics.

• To create and secure your account, and verify eligibility to join the community.
• To operate core features: the feed, polls, comments, notifications, gallery, and events.
• To let administrators review and approve accounts, posts, and polls.
• To communicate with you about your account or community activity (e.g. approval status, likes, comments).
• To maintain the security and integrity of the Service.
• With your consent, to understand aggregate usage so we can improve the Service.

Your display name, profile photo, and approved posts/polls/comments are visible to other members of the community; the public feed of approved posts can be viewed by anyone, including visitors who are not signed in. Your email address is never shown publicly. Administrators can see account status and content pending approval.

We share data with the infrastructure providers needed to run the Service:

• Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore database, Hosting) — stores your account and content data and processes sign-in on Google Cloud infrastructure.
• Cloudinary — stores and serves images you upload.

We do not sell your personal information.

We retain your account and content for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion, or an administrator removes your account, we delete or anonymize the associated data within a reasonable period, except where we're required to keep it for legal reasons.

• You can edit most of your profile information at any time from your profile page.
• You can delete posts, polls, and comments you've authored.
• You can request account deletion by contacting us at the address below.
• You can control non-essential cookies via the cookie banner or the 'Cookie preferences' link in the footer.

We rely on Google Firebase's security infrastructure, access-controlled database rules, and server-verified sessions to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

The Service is intended for adult alumni and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
